Membership

Anyone who is interested in Bengali culture and tradition can become a BAM member. The yearly membership for 2024 is $20 for whole family and $10 for individuals.  

Membership is not necessary to attend any BAM event. However, membership provides discounts on BAM events, and only BAM members can vote on BAM elections.

About us

The Bengali Association of Madison (BAM) is registered non-profit (501(c) (3)) organization in Madison, WI. It organizes several Bengali cultural events throughout the year.  BAM was started in 1983 by a small group of new Bengalis in Madison, some of them are still regular participant of BAM. The goal of BAM is to enjoy the essence and spirit of Bengali food, music, and culture with each other, our children, and the community in this beautiful town that we call home. We currently have about 100 members. Anyone can who is interested in Bengali food and culture can become a member and/or attend our events.  Events are always open to everyone.  If you are in "greater Madison area", come join us in one of the events.

Bengali Association of Madison (BAM) is registered with the State of Wisconsin and Federal US Government. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has granted BAM a non-profit, tax exempt status (effective date: April 16, 2016).

Executive Committee Members

The elected executive committee members for 2024-25 are: 

President: Gautam Bhowmick

President-elect: Deepankar Ghosh

Co-treasurers: Sukanta Ghosh and Jhuma Saha

The President and President-elect work closely throughout the term of one year. After the end of the term, the President-elect will be the President in the next term, and a new President-elect will be elected via a general body vote. Elections will be held for the President-elect and the co-treasurer post every year.
